Production Operative, Grinding & Polishing (m/f/d)

The grinding shop is where it is decided how an instrument feels in the hand. The surface created here is something a surgeon never sees — she feels it. This is work you learn in weeks and master in years.

Full-time Immediate start 78532 Tuttlingen Career changers welcome Trained up within the team

What the role is about

A surgical instrument does not become good simply by having the right dimensions. It becomes good when the surface is right: even, free of burrs, comfortable in the hand, straightforward in the cleaning process. That is exactly what is created in our grinding shop — with machines, but above all with experience and a good eye.

You work in a small, well-established team on instruments for spinal surgery, proctology and general surgery. No production line, no cycle time measured in seconds: what counts here is that a part comes out right — not that it comes out fast.

Your responsibilities

  • Grinding and polishing surgical instruments to drawing and sample.
  • Achieving the required surface finish and geometry — including where the specification is tight.
  • Visual and dimensional inspection of the parts you have worked on.
  • Documenting the process steps within our quality management system to DIN EN ISO 13485.
  • Setting up and maintaining the machines and tools you use.

Your profile

  • Practical manual skill, a steady hand and an eye for surfaces.
  • A careful, reliable way of working — including on the twentieth part of the day.
  • Experience in metalworking is an advantage but not a condition: career changers are expressly welcome.
  • Good written and spoken German (essential) for coordination within the team and for the documentation.
A note on language: production, documentation and day-to-day coordination here run in German, and the process steps have to be recorded in German. Good German is therefore a genuine requirement for this role — it is what makes working safely on the shop floor possible.
For career changers

If you come from another skilled manual trade and are wondering whether that is enough: as a rule, yes. What counts is a delicate touch and patience — we will teach you the rest. The best thing is to come in for a day and try it out before we talk about a contract.

What we offer

  • 30 days' annual holiday.
  • Flexible working hours — appointments can be arranged within the team.
  • Company pension scheme and capital-forming benefits.
  • Tax-free fuel vouchers — particularly noticeable if you commute in from the surrounding area.
  • Training and development, plus a structured induction by experienced colleagues.
  • Free mineral water, coffee and fruit.
